Suisun City's worst run of gunfire on record

The city has logged more reported shootings in 2025 and the first eight months of 2026 than in any comparable stretch since 2010, and 2026 already ties the record for gun deaths.

Is gun violence up this year?

Yes. 2025 and 2026 have the highest counts in this record.

Suisun City averaged 1.7 reported shootings a year from 2010 through 2024, and nine of those fifteen years had one or none. Since January 2025 there have been 10: 5 last year and 5 so far this year, with four months still to run. The two killed on School Street in May match the most gun deaths in any year here; only 2011 had as many. Two of the last three shootings came four days apart, on Aug. 31 and Sept. 3.

This is a count of reported shootings, not an official tally. Gunfire that never reached a news outlet or a police release is not here, and coverage of non-injury shootings has been uneven, so earlier years are more likely to be undercounted than recent ones. The bars count incidents; the line counts people killed. They come apart in 2026, when a single shooting on School Street killed two, tying 2011 for the most gun deaths in any year here. Fatal shootings are the least likely to have been missed in any year, so the death line is the most comparable measure across years.

About the data

What counts. A shooting is any incident inside Suisun City limits in which a firearm was fired at or toward a person, or into an occupied home, vehicle or building, and police confirmed gunfire. Incidents where officers found only casings are included when police announced them as shootings. Firearm suicides are not included; a June 2021 death on Hammond Lane investigated as a possible suicide is left out. A February 2025 incident in which an off-duty deputy shot two attacking dogs near the Kroc Center is left out because no person was fired upon.

What is excluded by geography. Several widely shared "Suisun" shootings happened elsewhere. The June 3, 2026 Sem Yeto High graduation shooting (one killed, three wounded) took place at Fairfield High School's stadium in Fairfield. The East Tabor Avenue shooting that killed a Suisun City resident, and a West Texas Street killing, were in Fairfield. The 1928 Bryan ranch murders were in unincorporated Suisun Valley.

Sourcing. Each date was checked against the publication date and day of the week in the linked article or police release. Names of victims and suspects appear only where a linked outlet published them. Court outcomes are listed where reporting exists; several older cases have later dispositions that were not located. An arrest is not a conviction, and a scheduled sentencing is not a sentence. Where outlets disagree, as on the Gray Hawk Lane death count and the Weber Street location, the entry says so and the police account sets the count.

Official counts. The FBI's Uniform Crime Reports record 2 murders in Suisun City in 2010, 1 in 2013, 3 in 2017 and 0 in 2019, with total violent crime rising from 81 to 114 offenses across that decade. Weapon type is not broken out at city level, so those figures are not directly comparable with the shooting counts here. Population: 28,111 at the 2010 Census, 29,518 at 2020, and an estimated 29,454 in July 2025.

Map. Street geometry from OpenStreetMap contributors. Incident points are geocoded to the reported block and offset slightly where incidents share an address. The August 2025 Weber Street killing is not marked: the parcel has not been identified, Weber Street runs just outside the city line, and outlets disagree on which city it was in.

Gaps. Pre-2010 coverage is not retrievable online in usable form and is not shown. Minor woundings and shots-fired calls that never reached regional news are almost certainly missing, so every count here is a floor.
